Our Mission
The Dr. Alex Mushikita Nkandu Palliative Care Initiative is dedicated to providing holistic palliative care and support to cancer patients in Zambia, addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Through comprehensive training, community outreach, and advocacy efforts, we strive to raise awareness and improve access to essential palliative care services across the nation.
Vision
We envision a Zambia where every individual facing cancer receives compassionate, comprehensive, and holistic care that respects their dignity and supports their well-being throughout their journey. Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Alex Mushikita Nkandu, our initiative seeks to establish a movement within healthcare that embodies empathy, service, and unwavering support for those battling cancer.
Our Objective
The objectives are to establish a palliative care program in Lusaka, Zambia, in collaboration with St. Ignatius Parish, other parishes in the country, and the Cancer Disease Hospital; develop a community-based palliative care model for expansion across Zambia; provide comprehensive care and support to cancer patients and their families; raise awareness about the importance of palliative care; and train healthcare professionals and volunteers in palliative care principles and practices.
